Local Brownies bring magnificent makeover to Shepherds Well Station Entrance

Shepherds Well station has enjoyed a magnificent makeover this year, thanks to a green-fingered group of Brownies. The previously bare patch of land next to the station has been given some serious TLC by the girls, including whimsical fairy toadstools, recycled tyre and wellington boot planters, and a pretty wildflower patch. Plus, it’s kind to fauna as well as flora, with a range of wooden ‘bug hotels’, and even a wildlife-friendly pond.

The Mayor of Deal will be attending the official opening of the garden on Wednesday 26th September at 6pm with Brownies and Southeastern employees in attendance.

Martin Pickering, Station Staff member at Shepherds Well who has been instrumental in this project, said: “The Brownies have worked so hard to create a beautiful station garden, it is a real transformation from the patchy grass area that was there before. Our passengers are enjoying the colour and imaginative touches!”

Following their months of hard work, the 1st Shepherds Well pack has submitted their colourful creation to the Britain in Bloom contest, which recognises gorgeous gardens across the country. The winners will be announced on 19 October.
