Refurbishment works are getting underway on lifts and escalators at NI Railways stations.
The improvement works will begin later this month at Lanyon Place and Botanic Stations. They will also be carried out at Bangor and Yorkgate train stations.
Translink’s Head of Rail Customer Service Hilton Parr said: “These works will maintain high accessibility standards to ensure our stations remain inclusive and accessible. We are liaising with IMTAC and relevant passenger groups to inform them of these works to ensure our customers can make informed choices about their travel during the works.
“The refurbishment programme will improve the lifespan and reliability of the lifts and improve their speeds, as well as reducing the need for unscheduled maintenance.
“Staff will be on hand to provide additional assistance at stations for people with specific needs but we are encouraging people requiring lift access to allow some extra time for their journey”.
Hilton concluded: “Passengers requiring access to the lifts are asked to travel via another NI Railways station where possible. Any customers requiring lift access at NI Railways stations during the works, must provide 24 hours’ notice by calling Translink’s Contact Centre on 028 90 666630 so that we can make alternative arrangements”.
