E&P Design Engineer has the responsibility for the development of E&P design solutions within the team’s budgetary, programme and quality requirements.
Key Tasks:

Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ): § Implement and comply with SHEQ policies and procedures, all legal requirements and best practice. § Be fully aware of the current CDM regulations and ‘Safe by Design’ principles, recognising and understanding the importance of your own contribution to CDM and SHEQ on projects and in the workplace. § Apply personal knowledge and technical expertise to your work and to the standards required, by: o Taking personal responsibility for SHEQ standards in your role. o Encouraging others to work to the required CDM and SHEQ standards. o Raising and addressing Buildability concerns. o Maintaining personal knowledge of current technical and professional standards required to carry out specific tasks within your role. Job Description E&P Design Engineer 3 of 4 Proforma uncontrolled when printed FM-HR-JD-01 Parent Procedure: Procedure Ref: Job Description Technical Competencies / Key Tasks § Achieve the technical compliance of the design to the remit, by: o Working to the Design Procedure.

Agreeing technical requirements of the remit. o Producing design deliverables in compliance with industry standards. o Taking instructions and producing designs/drawings to a high standard of accuracy in an appropriate format to agreed timescales. o Producing clear and consistent design. o Using the current relevant standards and being familiar with software used in design development as appropriate. o Working alongside other Designers and supplying them with information in a timely manner. o Referencing, issuing, filing and archiving design deliverables in accordance with the Design procedure.

Be aware of design developments in H&S, Innovation, Sustainability and Diversity and implementing them as appropriate, by: o Maintaining CPD records. o Improving your own skills portfolio, both technical and managerial. Corporate Responsibility: § Understand the importance of achieving customer satisfaction by driving and maintaining the highest level of standards and working collaboratively.

Understand the social, cultural, global and environmental responsibilities of the Professional E&P Engineer and the need for sustainable development, by: o Making best use of the existing knowledge within the business and contribute to it as appropriate. o Developing skills and/or working towards a design/technical/professional specialism or membership of a professional body. Technical: § A good understanding of E&P engineering principles.

Problem solving and decision making in line with level of responsibility.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the design and engineering process. §Appreciation of factors influencing the buildability of design solutions. § Ability to learn in applying load monitoring equipment and producing load monitoring reports.
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD / Microstation / Projectwise / Hevacomp / Amtech / DIALux and most relevant Design software packages. §Knowledge and understanding of relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and Regulatory Body standards. § Awareness of ISO 9001 / 14001 / 44001, PAS 1192 and OHSAS 18001 standards. People and Operations: § Good organisational, communication, reporting and presentation skills.
  • Proven and effective co-ordination of workload, showing high levels of professionalism. §Committed to the professional development of others. Commercial: § Contribute to the achievement of the financial success on the project, by: o Maintaining timesheets on a daily basis, and submitting to required timescales. o Inputting into the development, production and maintenance of documentation and records as required with a view to increasing overall efficiency. o Proposing technical opportunities for value engineering. o Being aware of the process for producing fee proposals and measuring contract variations / design changes. BIM: § BS/PAS 1192 Principles: o Know where to find and work in accordance with BIM procedures, which are aligned to the fundamental principles of BIM Level 2.

Understand the requirement for and content of the BIM Execution Plan, understand key BIM terminology, and be able to follow standard methods and procedures described within the BEP with regards to information exchange.
