J-Flex to showcase their RailFlex® range of high performance, low toxicity, elastomer materials and components at Railtex 2019

The introduction of the improved norm – EN 45545-2 – for low smoke/low toxic flame retardant materials in railway rolling stock build and refurbishment, heralded a major advancement in passenger and personnel safety. Only those materials and components that restrict and contain the spread of fire may be used.

J-Flex has a range of elastomeric products meeting the criteria of EN 45545-2 and these are classified under the registered brand name RailFlex®. All RailFlex® products have been independently tested and certified by leading fire test laboratories throughout Europe. Conforming to EN 45545-2, full material data sheets and test reports are available upon request.

In some instances, some RailFlex® projects have been test and approved against the former National Standards DIN 5510-2; NF F 16-101, BS6853, UL 94 V(0) and NFPA 130 Hazard Rating System.

EPDM, Silicone and Neoprene materials have excellent environmental resistance, withstanding O-zone, UV, rain and frost – meaning outdoor applications such as lighting systems and enclosures are kept water and dust tight. RailFlex® materials are resistant to corrosion, moisture, salt, and light fuels.
