The third speaker at RSN’s Railbusinessdaily.com Conference was Stadler Rail’s Hein van der Schoot.

Hein took to the stage to outline Stadler’s comprehensive rolling stock service offering, including spare parts provision, overhauls and modernisation, vehicle repairs and service support.

He discussed in detail the company’s approach to maintenance, which focuses on balanced and condition-based maintenance, modular revision, remote monitoring and a local focus.

Hein also described Stadler’s large portfolio of rolling stock currently in operation on the UK’s railway and the current fleet service projects it is involved in: Greater Anglia and Merseytravel, plus future contracts with Glasgow Subway and KeolisAmey’s new FLIRT tri-mode units for Wales and Borders.

He also explained Stadler’s future plans, including the recent tender for a contract with Nexus, comprising the supply of 42 new EMUs, maintenance of the existing and new fleet, new maintenance depot facilities, mock-up and simulator, where Stadler has one of three companies shortlisted, with the winner to be announced later this year.
