Hair-raising exploits by Great Northern staff raise cash for Air Ambulance

Great Northern’s station staff at King’s Lynn have raised almost £1,400 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance Service with a day of gruelling charity activities on Friday 2 November.

The Cycling Challenge team smashed their target of 316.6 kilometres (196.7 miles) – the circumference of Norfolk – on their exercise bikes, reaching a total of 362 kilometres (225 miles).

Train driver Brian Cain had his chest and back waxed for the cause while Vicky Somerton, train cleaning supervisor, allowed her head to be shaved.

Station Manager Graeme Pratt said: “The generosity of our customers and local businesses has shone through, and there is more sponsorship money to come in. I would like to thank everyone involved for their help and hard work as this was truly a team effort across the stations, drivers, cleaners, revenue and management teams.”

The East Anglian Air Ambulance was chosen by Great Northern employees as the company’s charity for 2018.
