Commercial Manager

Location: Midlands
Salary: Dependent on Experience
Type: Permanent

 

We are recruiting for an experienced Commercial Manager in the midlands area. You will be working directly on the HS2 project for one of the world’s leading commercial consultants. The role would require previous experience within the Rail & Infrastructure sector. You will need a proven track record of experience and delivery in a similar role with a recognised main contractor. You must have experience on large build projects, ideally with a major national contractor. Reporting to the commercial lead, you will be responsible for all commercial aspects of the project. This is a senior management role which would suit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager seeking the next challenge in their career on Europe’s largest infrastructure project!

 

ROLE

As Commercial Manager you will be responsible for financial management of projects, recognizing business opportunities, arranging bids to win new business, as well as negotiating and agreeing contracts.

 

You will report directly to a commercial lead and will carry out and support the following duties:

⦁              Cost Management

⦁              Contract/Commercial Management 

⦁              Comply with Quality Management Systems, processes and procedures

⦁              Preparation of monthly reports 

⦁              Contract Change Control 

⦁              Attending and leading Commercial/Contract meetings 

⦁              Estimating

⦁              Complete savings report for internal records

⦁              Prepare, validate and agreement of interim and final accounts

⦁              Risk Management 

 

ABOUT YOU

⦁              Broad technical knowledge relating to Cost and Commercial Management.

⦁              Ability to work in a client facing role and develop client relationships within the industry.

⦁              Good communication skills, energy, drive and ambition

⦁              The ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements readily

⦁              Good financial and numeracy management skills

⦁              Good organisational skills

⦁              Methodical way of thinking

⦁              Ability to work in both company and client offices. You may also be required to work on site.

⦁              Good understanding of collaboration and associated behaviours

⦁              Ability to quickly adapt to changing environments

⦁              Excellent problem-solving skills

⦁              Good negotiating skills

⦁              Knowledge of standard forms contracts (particularly NEC3)

Principal Engineer

Location: North of England
Salary: Up to £70k
Type: Permanent

 

As the world of Rail starts to approach its largest investment in decades, opportunities are starting to come in thick and fast!

 

We are working very closely with a large Contractor within the industry who have a range of vacancies on, but top of the list is an experienced and versatile Principal Engineer.

 

The nature of the works is Operational Telecoms across the Rail network. However, candidates with 5+ years Senior level Multi-discipline Engineering experience will be considered. The preference would be for a candidate with in-depth knowledge of the full scope of operational comms including Fibre + Copper installations, Testing etc.

 

This position will be directly reporting into the Engineering Manager and would entail the supervision of less senior engineers out on site.

 

Previous Rail experience is essential for this position.

 

Locations covered will be in the North of England including Sheffield & York.

E&P CRE

Location: North of England

Assistant Project Manager

We are assisting a client on their search for a dynamic and enthusiastic Assistant Project Manager to help develop and grow the business and look after a range of multi-discipline projects throughout their full life cycle.

The successful candidate will be working closely with the Senior Project Manager to help deliver projects to both industry and the clients expected standards.

 

This role will require strong communication and interpersonal skills as you will be collaborating with different areas of the business to understand and deliver solutions to the client. This includes Products, Services & Engineering teams, Sales, Accounting and Planning, as well as establishing and maintaining a good rapport with our customers.

 

What will be Responsibilities?

Signalling Design Engineer

Location: Birmingham

This position will be involved in a wide variety of projects covering a range of signalling technologies, seeing projects through from the early stages of development to detailed design.

 

As a Signalling Design Engineer, you will be responsibilities for:

 

  • Assisting in the preparation of estimates and tender documentation.
  • You will prepare and produce railway signalling designs, reports and working drawings ensuring compliance with all contractual and statutory requirements within agreed timescales.
  • Supporting project engineering and delivery as required, which will include the opportunity to go trackside to assist testing during commissioning periods.

 

 

As a Signalling Design Engineer, you are required to:

 

  • Hold current IRSE Signalling Designer Licence (1.1.510)
  • Have experience and knowledge of UK railway standards, design processes and procedures.
  • Have experience in using appropriate industry standard CAD packages.
  • Be able to work closely with team members and the ability to communicate effectively.

Signalling Principles Designer / Verifier

In this position you will lead and support project delivery throughout the project life cycle from inception to completion.

As a Signalling Principles Designer / Verifier you will be:

  • Preparing, producing and verifying railway signalling designs, specifications, reports and working drawings using first principles for relevant parts of a new or altered signalling system, ensuring compliance throughout.
  • Ensuring all designs produced complies with client requirements, technical and safety principles and successfully delivered in budget.
  • Liaising with clients, construction and testing staff.
  • Mentoring, supporting and guiding the development of junior staff members.

As a Signalling Principles Designer / Verifier you will need to:

  • Hold IRSE Signalling Verifier Licence
  • Hold Signalling Principles Designer Licences (1.1.160 and 1.1.550)
  • Have significant UK signalling principles design/checking experience, including knowledge of UK railway standards, design process and procedures.
  • Have experience of signalling design and/or Stageworks involving a broad range of lineside equipment and technologies.
  • Be able to communicate effectively and work closely with those in the team who are in different offices.
