RIA Future of Rail: Demand

Rail demand has recovered to 97% of pre-Covid levels, and is only continuing to grow. Steer’s Railway Industry Association (RIA)-commissioned report in 2024 estimated that demand will grow anywhere between 37% and 97% by 2050.

At the RIA Future of Rail: Demand in 2025, Steer will be publishing their latest reports into passenger demand, whilst discussing how this can be maximised.

Part 1: Future of demand – what does the latest data show us about the future? Speakers include Mike Goggin, Managing Director, Transformation & Growth, at Steer and Guy Bates, Head of Freight Development, Network Rail.

Part 2: The opportunity and implications for transport strategy – with Geoff Hobbs, Director of Public Transport Service Planning, Transport for London.  And a panel discussion with speakers including Silviya Barrett, Director of Policy and Campaigns, Campaign for Better Transport, Geoff Hobbs, Director of Public Transport Service Planning, Transport for London and Natasha Grice, Director, Transport Focus.
