Next steps for the UK’s rail network

25th April 2024 @ 8:30 am - 1:00 pm

Next steps for the UK’s rail network is a conference from the Westminster Energy, Environment & Transport Forum. It will focus on next steps for the UK’s rail network, looking at priorities for delivering a reliable network and future-proofing rail infrastructure.

It will bring stakeholders and policymakers together to examine Network Rail’s objectives and priorities for CP7, considering how feasible the targets outlined in the Strategic Business Plan are, and how effectively they respond to government objectives and the needs of passengers for both the rail and wider transport sector.

Delegates will also consider the Office of Rail and Road’s response to CP7 proposals, including implications of accountability measures and their role in ensuring targets are met.

Looking at next steps for the transition to GBR, the agenda will bring out views on the dependency of reform on achieving efficiency targets for CP7, as well as addressing concerns over the timescale of GBR’s implementation in the run up to a general election, and how the Government might address issues of poor performance identified in the NAO’s value for money report.

Keynote sessions are with: Jonny Mood, Director of Transport Value for Money, NAO; Will Godfrey, Director of Economics, Finance and Markets, ORR; and Paul McMahon, Director, Planning and Regulation, Network Rail.
