The RailEI is delighted to invite you to our Seminar, “Making a Point: Developments in S&C Design, Manufacturing, Installation and Maintenance.” This event brings together leading experts and practitioners to explore the complete lifecycle of Switch and Crossing (S&C) units – from initial design through to manufacturing, installation, and ongoing maintenance. The day will provide a comprehensive overview of the latest advancements, best practices, and research in S&C. Attendees will gain valuable insights into:

  • Design: Innovations in S&C design, including Network Rail’s Technical Authority perspective
  • Manufacturing: Advances in manufacturing processes for S&C units
  • Installation: Practical approaches and case studies on S&C installation, including major projects and lessons learned
  • Maintenance: Strategies for effective asset management, reballasting, stressing, and long-term maintenance to ensure reliability and performance

This Seminar features a diverse programme of technical presentations, and interactive Q&A sessions, with contributions from Amey, Interflon, Network Rail, Rail-ability, Progress Rail, voestalpine, Volker Rail, and the University of Huddersfield.
