Dyer & Butler, a multi-disciplined engineering services specialist focused on essential infrastructure including airports, railways and highways and part of M Group Services, is working in partnership with Network Rail to close out ‘close call’ reports raised across the Wales route to make the railway a safer place for all.
A close call is defined as anything with the potential to cause harm or damage. This includes the potential to:
- harm a person including minor, major injuries, and fatalities
- harm the environment and/or protected species
- damage railway infrastructure, plant, vehicles, tools, equipment, systems and information
In December 2019, 130 close calls were raised across the Wales route, 100 of which were submitted by Dyer & Butler.
Currently, Dyer & Butler has operative teams working to rectify all of the close calls submitted by all contractors working across the Wales route.
Dyer & Butler Rail Director Chris Darlow comments: “By closing out these reports we are ensuring that the safety of the railway is maintained so that we are able to get everyone home safe, every day.”
