The Railway Industry Association (RIA) is teaming up with the University of Huddersfield and Network Rail to promote a conference on innovation in rolling stock on 10 December at the University from 10am to 5pm. The Conference will focus on the theme of ‘M.A.D.E for Rolling Stock’ where M.A.D.E stands for Materials, Automation, Data and Energy, all areas where UK industry has great technological capacity and a strong capability to deliver.
There will be over 25 speakers and presenters in quick-fire sessions aimed at communicating what delegates need to know about their project, and leaving plenty of room for networking. Network Rail will be running a drop-in workshop where delegates can find out about plans for upgrading their Rail Innovation & Development Centres and tell Network Rail what they would like to see included in the upgrade. The University of Huddersfield is the Centre of Excellence in Rolling Stock for the UK Rail Research & Innovation Network (UKRRIN) and has unique test facilities, including the HAROLD full scale bogie ‘rolling railway’ test rig which delegates will be able to visit during the day. Alongside an exhibition of innovative products and the Network Rail workshop, this will provide a full day of activities for delegates to take an active part in.
